Ascoltando il compact-disc si ha la percezione di essere di fronte a una violinista dal carattere forte e passionale, ma che sa anche trovare momenti di tenerezza espressiva tipica dello specifico femminile nell’interpretazione della musica classica. La sua cavata è potente, il picchettato deliziosamente pulito ed omogeneo, il legato assolutamente seduttivo e carezzevole. La Bernecoli sa interpretare, dando alle note quel tocco di personalità di un’artista che ha ben interiorizzato la pagina eseguita….
Un bel cd tutto da ascoltare e godere per chi apprezza la più bella musica cameristica italiana.

Bernecoli brings passionate intensity…
The Adagio di G. B. Grazioli sulla IV corda begins promisingly; and Bernecoli plays this arrangement of a then 100-year-old work warmly and ingratiatingly on the G-string.
Here’s a piece that could well take the place of August Wilhelmj’s familiar arrangement of Bach’s Air from the Orchestral Suite No. 3-or, at least, Bernecoli plays it convincingly enough to make it seem as though it could. The program concludes with the even earlier Sonata in B Minor (1906). Bernecoli plays  its strenuous (and virtuosic) first movement with sympathetic ardor and technical aplomb…
given such a compelling reading of Pick-Mangiagalli’s works.

Ancora una volta non si può non lodare l’intelligente proposta del duo italiano, composto dalla violinista Emy Bernecoli e dal pianista Massimo Giuseppe Bianchi, che si fanno apprezzare per l’esecuzione accattivante, giustamente densa nella parte pianistica, lirica, elegante e dal suono penetrante nella parte violinistica.

Once again nothing but praise is due for the intelligent performance by the Italian duo made up of the violinist Emy Bernecoli and the pianist Massimo Giuseppe Bianchi, who are to be appreciated for their captivating performance, suitably dense in the piano part, lyrical, elegant and with a penetrating tone in the violin part.

As a duo Bernecoli and Bianchi…demonstrate individual flare along with joint integrity and unforced collaborative intuitiveness.
With the light and airy notes of the Giga and Allegretto vivace, Bernecoli gives a depth and definition which is matched by Bianchi’s crisp punctuation. Her full tone never becomes wispy or gravelly and her vibrato is noteworthy for its evenness and naturalness.
From Respighi’s Sei Pezzi (1901–2) Bianchi plays the melting figurations of the Berceuse in D minor and Leggenda in G minorfrom the Sei Pezzi with delicacy and grace.

La violinista Emy Bernecoli, che assieme al pianista Massimo Giuseppe Bianchi forma da diversi anni un affiatato duo, ha già al suo attivo prestigiosi riconoscimenti per la registrazione delle Sonate per violino e pianoforte di Ghedini, sempre per Naxos.
Qui trova forse maggiori soddisfazioni prettamente strumentali in virtù della scrittura più idiomatica di Respighi, che affida ad entrambi gli strumenti, specie nella Sonata, ampi spazi per dispiegare doti di virtuosismo ma soprattutto di flessuosa cantabilità.
Un fraseggio di grande naturalezza e una generale pulitezza strumentale e un suono penetrante giovano a stilizzare le pagine più salottiere, servite con grande eleganza senza eccessi di manierismo: basterebbe ascoltare l’insinuante sapore da cafè chantant di cui sanno intridere una pagina come la Valse Caressante o la Serenata che richiama certe miniature di un musicista come Edward Elgar. The violinist Emy Bernecoli, who has for several years been part of a close-knit duo with pianist Massimo Giuseppe Bianchi, to her credit has already received impressive reviews for the recording of Ghedini’s Sonatas for violin and pianoforte, also for Naxos.
Here perhaps she finds greater satisfaction of a purely instrumental kind in virtue of Respighi’s more idiomatic writing, which grants both instruments ample room to reveal gifts of virtuosity but above all lithe cantabile quality, especially in the Sonata. Phrasing of great naturalness, general instrumental polish and a piercing sound help stylize the more fashionable pages, served with great elegance without excesses of mannerism: it would suffice to listen to the persuasive cafè chantant flavor with which they know how to permeate a page like the caressing Waltz or the Serenade that recalls certain miniatures by a musician such as Edward Elgar. La violinista tiene sus puntos fuertes en los registros bajos, donde extrae un sonido más redondo del instrumento, y en el Adagio, en el que vuelca toda su sabiduría para conseguir momentos emocionantes.
Las afrancesadas miniaturas que componen las Sei pezzi y las Cinque pezzi confirman que Bernecoli se mueve mejor en los movimientos lentos, siendo la Leggenda de las primeras sumamente expresiva. …Should these works enter the repertory, prospective performers will find themselves having to measure up to the Bianchi/Bernecoli duo’s impassioned, technically polished and rhythmically rock-solid interpretations.
They offer a more austere, dynamically contrasted and modernist take on Ghedini’s E flat majour Sonata than in an earlier recording, where Franco Gulli’s warm, perpetually singing tone in the finale contrasts with Bernecoli’s far more restrained and specific application of vibrato.
Superb recorded sound and informative annotations by Flavio Menardi Noguera further enhance an unusual, welcome and valuable disc. And let’s hope that Naxos has further plans for these gifted and fervently committed musicians. © 2013 Gramophone.
